A Fond Farewell

A Fond Farewell

Upon a leaden grey cloud, I fumble
Sensing the cold gale sweeping over me,
My heart pines for a tinge of warmth
As all I see beyond this lair
Is a vacuous breach of despair.
Yonder the mirthless smile on your lips
I behold the agony hidden
Beneath your tear-pricked eyes
A hollow void grows within me,
As the words “Good bye”
Fall thudding down from you,
Striking me, solely.
My benumbed mind cries out
As you turn and walk away,
Forsaking me,
For solitude to befall.

I bid you farewell, my friend
And beneath the stars I wish,
That you do well in life,
Molding all your dreams to reality.
Before the curtain drops between us
There’s something I want to tell you,
Our times together do not end here
Only if we part, shall we meet again.
So, not to worry, my dear
Soon your grief-marred eyes
Will sparkle again!
And do bear in mind that,
No matter whatsoever,
I’ll always be there for you!

Very nice, I like the way it sort of ends on a note of hope. No matter what, I'll be there for you, I like that.
