There are those times when birds come to perch on her windowsills, making her fly off the handle. She rushes towards the window and drums her fingers against them just to scare the birds away. Then, she stays there and watches them.
Up, up and away into the bright blue skies they rise…far away from her, singing their freedom song once again. She longingly gazes at the sight, wishing she was one of them.
She realizes that she had gone far beyond the magical shell. The very one which had protected and nurtured her all this while. She knows that it's impossible to get back in, yet her heart yearns for it's warmth.
A day. An hour. A minute.
Why didn't these words ever sound so profound as they do today?
Nothing in this world, barring change, is permanent. She starts wondering why people trade permanent happiness for temporary unjustifiable pleasures.
That's when she realizes who she really is.
She shuts her eyes and she wishes with all her heart for a second chance…
