Just plain ecstatic. For no specific reason, though. Hmm, guess I got up at the right side of my bed today. Though I didn’t have all that a great sleep with all those gigantic slices of pizzas trotting about in my interiors. Well, not just pizzas, there are a lot of thoughts streaming about within me too
Sometimes I wonder why I think so much before doing something. Think about something, bury myself in it, cudgel my brain and when I finally wish to put the thought to action it would be too late. And then I end up thinking why I’ve thought so much when I could have actually done something about it. This very attribute of mine have landed me in deep shit many a times. And now it makes me feel that the less you ponder over something, the better. Sometimes we just have to go by our instincts. If you think, you keep thinking for the rest of your lives.
Talking about thinking brings back to my mind this joke I had read in Tinkle when I was in third grade. It’s a conversation between Anwar and his dad. Um, I think it was Anwar. Anyway, let’s call him Anwar, whatsoever.
Dad: How was the exam, Anwar?
Anwar: It was okay Dad. But I didn’t know one answer
Dad: Which one?
Anwar: I didn’t know the past tense of ‘think’. I thought and thought and in the end I wrote ‘thunk’.
*grin*
I used to crack this one to almost everyone I had acquainted during that period.
The other day we went to Oasis Center. It was my first time there, ever since the mall got rebuilt recently after it got burnt way back in 2004. It’s a lot huger now and many more brands have opened their outlets there. Well being the shopping freaks we are, mom and I didn’t spare a single one. I’m sort of into sports attires nowadays. I got myself a sports frock and a sports skirt, like the one these tennis players wear. Oh and there was this totally fab black knee length skirt, which I was so in love with, so I ended up taking that as well. And many more Tees until the basket was overflowing. And so the shopping spree went on…
Yesterday we went to watch NY. I felt it was pretty good. Well, I’ve heard people saying it’s a lot similar to the movie Khuda Ke Liye. I’ve not seen that one, but then movies made with a common theme are bound to seem alike and they might convey the same message but the tone of rendering the message is entirely different. This was a very realistic movie. I think movies, particularly Indian movies lack originality nowadays. It’s funny how illogical movies like Welcome and Singh is Kinng manage to become runaway hits, while many other meaningful movies don’t get their due recognition.
Hey, and I forgot to tell you guys. Dad bought me an ipod touch yesterday and woohoo, it so rocks. It totally resembles an iphone. Both look wise and feature wise. The only difference is that the ipod doesn’t serve the basic purpose of a phone, which is yes, voice communication. Otherwise, I think it’s more or less the same. This is my 3rd ipod actually. The first one was a Nano, which I had given my cousin just about three months after its purchase, and the second one was a 30GB classic one whose music files got corrupted. I reformatted the ipod. But it still seemed to have issues with me. It kept freezing every now and then, especially while playing the movies and then one fine day, it refused to even start up. I tried restarting and doing everything possible with it, but nothing worked. And finally when we gave it at Apple, they were like, the warranty period is over and they couldn’t so anything about it. Great. So I walked ipod-less for about 4 months and now finally my baby’s back in my arms. And the touch is incredible. It’s the perfect type for watching the movies, coz the screen’s pretty wide yeah?
Well, so life in Dubai is moving on marvelously. I’m making the most of my time here, coz I know once second year starts there’s no looking back. I seriously want to do something this year. As in, academically. Yeah, I know I say that at the start of every year. But I just hope I don’t make a mess of my second year as much as I had of my first. Okay, we’ll keep that topic on pending. Let’s not talk about it now. But just sit back and savor on the long day stretching out ahead of us. Meanwhile, lemme go ahead and hit the publish button and get this post done with, coz I guess I’ve spent quite a while in the den. So, Ciao peeps!

nywayz cya l8r kiddo... tc..
Yup, that was Anwar indeed...
I think we tend to forget what movies are supposed to be about. The story-telling is one part of it but the reason people go to movies is for the 'escapism' they can provide. An elaborately spun and unbelievable movie is always more entertaining than a well-told realistic movie.
Or that's my theory...
Ipods...never liked 'em. I think the Sony Walkman has far richer sound quality though the ergonomics arent quite upto par. I can live with that though, I like listening to music more than fidgeting around with uber-cool features.
hey, our shoppin' spree sure was fun. i love those gladiator sandals that u selected...and the pink floral dress...and of course the williams sisters style tennis outfit.
hope and pray that your second year at college would be a successful and enjoyable one, kuttu. god bless and keep u safe n happy. lots of love..amms
OMG that joke was hilarious! I actually stopped reading half way, went about my house telling everyone the joke, and then came back to read the rest of the post. Thought and thought and Thunk. Ahaha!
About the thinking, yea, I'm exactly like that too. I think and think, and keep thinking. And by the time I decide on something, the scenario changes and I start thinking again. I blame my thinking habit for my singleness. I think so much before approaching a girl that she's actually gone with somebody else by the time I'm done thinking. Lame!
Anyway, congratulations on the iPod touch. It's pretty cool, my friend has one too. And if your college has Wifi and stuff, it'll make things so much more convenient.
Good joke!! :)
I've used iTouch...its a cool thing! Have fun :)
And yea do take up that tag! Looking forward to reading your answers....
have fun..but btw thinking is such a beautiful act..why worry about it?
you are back!!!
missed ya !!!
So, I hope first year wasnt all that disasterous, First years are the best if you actually look at it.. the newness of all of it... new friends new place etc etc etc...
Ipod touch is great... One of my friedns has the iphone and I just keep fidgeting around with throughout the class... I think playing games on a touch screen is awesome !
and shopping is good... never enough though :)
and of course the movie.. I havent seen it so cant pass any judgement but I heard its good...
and John looks good !!! :)
anyway, dont worry about the second year... It can only be better !!!
@Toby: lol yeah, she doesn't get it u know...she thinks i stare at the monitor bcoz im thaaat jobless or something, anyway...haha, yeah i miss tinkle too...anwar, supandi, all of em...and about the bribing part, hmm may b i shud have gifted it to them...atleast tht way i wud have had my phone with me right now:(
@Bikram: Yea, I agree with the 'escapism' u were talking about. If it's entertaining, then its fine..but if it is totally illogical and crude, like most movies today, then it starts to get on ur nerves..
@Geets: Even I liked that dress very much! Our spree was fun, alright:)
@Ish: lol yeah, that was one of my favourite jokes! And Anwar, the naughty kid, was my fav char too. I know, contemplating is evil at times. It eats up all your time and gives you zero output!
@Shruti: Thanks fpr visitng my blog! Would do the tag soon:)
@Rambler: It is? For me, thinking is evil:)
@Blue Butterfly: Oh my God, you're back as well! I missed you too yaar. First year was actually great. Everything, except the academic part:D I hope I get that aspect of it right this time! Hope second year is treating you well:)
