Pa Pa Pa Pa Pa :P
Hey, I never thought I'd be able to make it to blogosphere this fast, but here I am blogging away right from the heart of God's Own Country. Ok, not exactly, the heart. I just wrote that coz I thought it sounded pretty cool. Anyway, wherever I am, I'm glad I've got my foot firm on Indian soil.
Whoa man, it feels great being here. Getting bamboozled in the lap of nature while watching the lush green coconut leaves sway along the chilly wind with the breeze occasionally caressing your face…ooh isn't this whatchacall, "Paradise"? It feels fab taking in the sight of rain pitter-pattering against the glossy green foliage in our garden here (yay! The monsoons have finally arrived!) , while I'm blogging, as opposed to the dirty, swirling, polluting winds which often transmute into a dust storm, every now and then, back in Dubai. I can see kids returning from school on their cycles, racing each other, and a few others walking under the umbrella chattering loudly, with the pride of subduing the rain's boisterous noise, glowing on their bright, young faces.
Jeez, I can hardly figure out why I never wanted to come here. I mean, it's so lovely out here. Believe me; I haven't even had a single thought of Dubai for the past few days. In fact I hadn't even thought of anything at all, all this while, for that matter. With cousins and relatives pouring in to visit you every now and then, who would? We had a huge get-together the other day, with both my mom's and dad's relatives under one roof. It was kind of weird having both dad-side cousins and mom-side cousins together. But all of them hit off very well, and it was great fun.
I spent the first three days at dad's place. Granddad, whom I call Chachan, had undergone a cataract operation last week and is having to wear goggles. He looks kinda funny, to tell you the truth, with those. I thought he resembled Karunanidhi, though of course I didn't tell him that. On the contrary, I did give a nodding approval when my pesky lil sister told him that he looks like SRK, only to get him to take us out. But what makes me totally wanna crack up is the inscriptions along either side of his goggle's frame, which says "punk" I went up to him and asked if those are REALLY what they provided him with, from the hospital and he was all like "Yeah" with a like-duh!-what-do-you-think sort of an expression. Poor chachan. Ah, ignorance is bliss!
Turns out one of my cousin's cousin and another of my cousin's friend are going to the same college as mine. In the beginning I was delighted to hear the news, but when my cousins told me that they all are seniors; I couldn't help re- evaluating if this really is something to be mirthful about. In fact, I think it's pretty freaky, because I'm sure they'd rag me all the more when they hear this news. But the fact is, I haven't seen any of them ever. No, actually it seems I've played with one of them when I was, like, four or something, though of course, I don't seem to remember that episode at all. I wonder if he remembers anything. Anyway, and the second guy, had hit on me once on Orkut, apparently with the very innocent motive of being my "brother". Awww, how sweet, especially when I don't have any siblings. But yeah, I made that bozo take a U-turn and I thought that was the end of him. Hmph, now why did this guy have to come back?
While all my cousins were here, we had a small ragging demo, with my mom acting as the senior ragger (or whatever you call them) and me as the victim. Here's what happened:
She (from behind): Oy! *whistling* Come here
Me: *keeps walking without turning*
She (in a louder voice): Hey you, I'm talking to YOU!
Me: *stops, turns around and takes three steps forward*
She (eyeing me): Hmm, fresher, eh?
Me: Yeah
She: Next time sir calls you, be quicker in coming
Me: *blinks*
She (pointing her finger at me): Understand?
Me : *all confused* Uh, which sir?
She (clapping her chest): ME!
Me: Oh, erm…right! Okay.
She: Call me SIR, from now on. Got it?
Me: Okay…SIR.
She: What’s that supposed to be? (pointing at my neck, around which I've worn a gold necklace having my name on it)
Me : A necklace *slightly raising an eyebrow*
She: M-A-H-I-M-A
Me: Yeah, that's my name. What's yours?
She (ignoring the question): What are you, a bus?
Me: Wh-what?
She: Yeah, what's with the name board, lady? * pointing at it, again*
At that point, I burst out laughing, and so did the rest of them gathered there, after which they all gave me a few tips on what-not-do during ragging. I wrote those down as points in my diary yesterday.
1. Don't show any signs of fear. Try your best not to tremble or stammer and put on a brave face.
2.Never ask them their names, and always answer to the point. Not a word more, not a word less.
3.Avoid sarcasm. No eyebrow raising, smirking , acting over smart etc
This is all what I've got so far. If any of you guys would like to contribute your points, I'd be more than happy to add 'em to these.
We're going for my grand-auntie's 68th B'day party tonight. And I've got one of my cousins' birthday coming up day after tomorrow. And yes, I'd be off to visit my college and hostel, one of these days. Whoa, so many events lined up! Can't wait.
There’s so much more to write, but the kids (my lil cousins) are not letting me type. They want me to go out with them!
Okies, me rolling!
