Now coming to college life, I know you guys are all waiting for me to write about my college as I haven’t mentioned a single word about it in quite many of my earlier posts. The word ‘college’ makes me feel all bizarre now, exactly with the same intensity it made me feel excited, say, two months back. As a matter of fact, I don’t even feel like I’m in college, come to think of it. I mean, everything is so bloody strict and scheduled in that place. Each and every single second is pre planned and they don’t even give us students enough space.
It’s so annoying - every time a period ends, we stand up and say “Thank you ma’am”, and just a split second before our asses hit the bench, there enters the next teacher to fry our brains. Believe me, they don’t even let us breathe. Oh and a free period in our college is as rare to find as a needle in a haystack. I mean, this is so lame. We had an average of three to four free periods a week at school, excluding library and work experience classes, and still I used to complain back then. Guess this serves me right. I never knew that Mr God keeps an account of all these. And hey, had he also kept an account of the amount of rice I had in taken during the last seventeen years? I’m sure he must have, which is why I’ve been made to consume more rice during the last one month than I have ever in my entire life had, which I must say, would not really have exceeded like ten kilograms. No wonder they say, “there’s no such thing as free lunch in this world”. Yes sir, I’m paying for it alright.
Well, let’s talk about the good things now. The only set of people who know how to have some fun are the Mechanical guys – particularly the S7 guys. Ragging is banned in our college, but these guys come and ask us to introduce ourselves, talk to us, crack jokes and all that. Oh and last week I made the mistake of sitting at the right most edge of the last bench, the one near the window, in our classroom, with little knowledge of the fact that the window faced the Mechanical Lab. Right from the minute I had sat there, I had been hearing all sorts of weird noises. At first it sounded like the noise of the rain to me but slowly it transmuted itself to something which sounded as though someone was pumping air into their cycle. It went on and on, but I ignored it and continued writing. After a while it started to sound like the hissing of snakes. Horrified, I looked all around me, expecting to see the same slithering along towards me, ready to twirl itself over me. And it was only then that I looked outside the window. I saw three guys looking out from their window and waving at me. Aha, so these were the sources, I thought. Then they started extending their hands through the bars of the window just like how these desperate jail birds do and yelling something to get my attention. Anyway, we all had a good laugh at the hostel when I narrated this incident that day.
Hostel life is not so bad, after all. I’ve made friends with most of them living in our wing. What I love the most about hostel is the late night conversations which include a game of cards, sometimes. During the evening we go and pluck papayas from our orchard, bring it to the hostel, cut it and serve it among all the wing mates. I and my roomie sometimes make a face pack out of it. Thursday is our official shopping day, and that’s when we really have a gala time. Last week we went and had pizzas and ice creams at this food court we have there. Oh and we get awesome burgers in our canteen. Hey and the cardamom tea they serve there is absolutely yummy.
Yeah, so that was all what I could gather in three weeks time. But I just hope the whole system was a little more relaxed. And if you’re wondering what I’m doing in the land of sun and sand at this time of the year, let me tell you that I’m having a ten day holiday on account of Onam. And so I’m back in Dubai. Yipeeeeee! Yeah, there’s nothing like home sweet home. And mom sweet mom.
On another note, we went for Bachna Ae Haseeno yesterday. I thought it was pretty fine, though Mom and Dad would beg to differ. And guess what, there was not a single soul in the theatre other than us, and they actually screened the movie exclusively for the three of us. Mom thought the male protagonist had a very shallow personality, which is true, but then after all isn’t it Ranbir? I love that song “Khuda Jaane”. KK’s got this totally piercing voice and the couple looks just awesome together.
I’m waiting for Mom to return from office so that we can decide about our plans for today. For the past two days, we’ve been going out for dinner, so hopefully they’d take me out today too. Uh oh, my stomach’s starting to grunt, lemme go regale it. Cya!
Pic of the day: Deepika n Ranbir. Oops, I mean, Mahi n Ranbir!

and do we get a share of those chocolates too!??!
I guess we expect too much from college when we get in because we've suffered schools all our lives. We've seen so many American movies which give us crazy ideas about college life. It doesn't happen like that back here in India. College is mostly School part 2. But I guess its the friends you make and your hostel life that makes it different from school. College is pretty strict back here too, but it's fine now because we've gotten used to the ass-frying and the boring lectures. In my college, most of my friends are my seniors who happen to be cool. Its funny why our batch isn't like that. But just yesterday we got yelled at by a senior guy because we were talking to his ex-girlfriend. Beat that. I thought he was being very stupid.
Anyway, chuck that. Mahi looks really nice with Ranbir! You should've been in that movie, you know!
sounds like you're having a ball of a time both at college and at home.
swell post as usual, with all the nitigrities pointed down to the T =)
Good so someone is having good time at home and earlier at college ;)
Although I liked the song “Khuda Jaane” and undoubtedly KK has got totally piercing voice but I didn't liked the movie at all.
and i cant believe you're goin already!
whats up with those guys behind bars? i mean the guys who waved at you FROM behind the bars? :D
where did you see the movie? how come the place was empty??
sigh, i didnt even get to see you properly!
put up all the onam visheshams before you go okkkk
Wow…. That’s one really cute picture…. You and ranbir … nice … !!!
I hated the movie but I loved the music.
Two chocolates a month…. Wow .. that must require self control huh ?.....
Lol …. Ragging incidents are always fun to see and hear. Its just gets a little bad when you are the one being ragged.
And hostel sounds so much fun… apart from the bad food…. But in our case even the food is good. Pluck papayas ….. that sounds like super fun !!!
And obviously you had fun at home…. When do the holidys end ????
I liked the song “Khuda Jaane”
@sam: :P that was grand cineplex, the one near wafi. Tanku:)
@geets: yup i was really bursting to blog! i knowww, mom sweet mom:)

@toby: *scratches head violently* yeah?? when??...ok ok lol, of course i do remember them...yea, as a seven yr old i was a choco-freak, i mean, everyone is, right? oh hey, so ur a member too huh? havin rice once a day is fine with me...but two is too much:(...
PS Ohhhh okk, it took me a moment to dig that. Bah, humbug!
@toby: :D :)
@tessie: lol thanks! glad to see ur comments after a long time!
@solo: :) of course of course!
@ish: seriously man. it's these larger than life movies that ruin us. i guess it's the same everywhere, we always find our seniors cooler than our batchmates. espeically the guys. you guys got yelled at for talking to a senior's gf? ok, thts like, lame. but then that's what they do the best: yelling n finding faults.
gee thanks, ish! u made my day! waise, minisshane bhi role teek taak sambhala nahi ? :P
@gayatri: had a great vacation back there! lol thanks:D
@geetika: yeah, the movie didn't have much of a story. but it was fun to watch at parts. n of course ranbir n deepika were awesome!
@ferri: yeah dint get to see u either man. sad, i know. guys behind the bars...lol, u know how desperate the mech guys are. saw the movie in grand cineplex. show was at six n coz it was during ramadan, not many were around. we were the only ones for that particular screening.
@Madurai citizen: me tooooo :)
