The other day I had this tiny argument with my friend. Apparently, she thinks the first word in my previous post is invalid. According to her, its "viola" and not "voila". Since neither of us were willing to give up, I told her, "Fine, let's bet on it!"
Though I can't, for the love of God, read or write French, and the only time I think about the language is probably when I eat a French toast, see a French beard, or taste those yummy pastries they serve at French Connections, this bet had made me wander into the world of French.
Okay, now coming to the point , while both voila and viola are valid words, a "viola" is a flower or a musical instrument. And interestingly it even means "raped" in French. These are viola flowers growing in a garden.
